In Romania, this period signifies a time of greater discounts compared to the rest of the year, usually over a limited timeframe, typically in the last days of November.
The term "Black Friday" firstly appeared in the 1960s in Philadelphia, marking the first day of Christmas shopping season.
Black Friday debuted in Romania in 2011. The first brands to mark this event were eMag and Flanco. The first Black Friday in Romania overwhelmed the online environment but also marked the moment when online shopping took off and became a significant segment in the market.
